Hungarian truck with migrant bodies registered to Romanian national

Xinhua, August 27, 2015 Adjust font size:

The truck in which between 20 and 50 migrants bodies were found just outside of Vienna had Hungarian plates and was registered to a Romanian national, it was reported Thursday.

Janos Lazar, chief of the Hungarian Prime Minister's Office, said that the plates had been issued in the city of Kecskemet, about 85 km from Budapest, to an unnamed Romanian national.

Lazar added Hungarian police were working with their Austrian counterparts to discover how this horrific incident could occur and to apprehend those responsible.

The victims were migrants trying to travel to Western Europe through Hungary or along another route that involved Hungarian participants.

"This exceptional occurrence demonstrates how the immigration situation has deteriorated in recent weeks," Lazar said. Endit
