Inflation in Macedonia registers 0.2 pct y-o-y growth

Consumer prices in Macedonia increased by 0.2 percent year-on-year in September 2016, local media reported Sunday, citing data from Macedonia's national statistical office.

The improvement came after consumer prices fell by 0.3 percent in August 2016 and was seen as positive by economy experts.

The prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, which had the largest weight of 40.9 percent in the consumer basket, saw a decline of 1 percent during September.

The prices of housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, which have the second largest weight of 13.8 percent in the consumer basket, declined by 0.1 pct on the year.

The average annual deflation for the first nine months of 2016 was 0.3 percent, according the statistical office. Endit
